Honda/Acura Wheel Directory?
«

Ok, well after putting my winter tires on 235 45 17, I have the feeling like my wheels are not wide enough, and it is causing excess wobble. I have these
and I think they are 17x6.5 and here is why
http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=17782
Nonetheless I want to be a little bit wider for the tire size I bought...but I want to keep OEM with the wheels, so I was wondering if there is a wheel directory or index out there with all the oem sizes and styles, etc.

Those are both the 06-07 Accord V6 6-speed and 01-03 Acura TL and CL Type S rims. They are a 17x6.5 +55 offset. Running a 235/45 R17 on a 6.5 is not advise at all. The approved rim width for a 235/45 R17 is a 7.5 to 9.0. It is a possibility that your rim is not wide enough causing some sort of wobble, but it could also be a balance issue. Check the balance of your wheels/tires to confirm it. I am one about safety concerns on tires, and I do not condone running tires wider then the approved rim width and narrower tires on wider rims (HellaFlush). This is just me. I prefer safety over looks.

I'll address two things here. If you're looking for wider wheels, I'd recommend getting a set of 3rd Gen Acura TL wheels. All 3 versions are 17"x8" +45 and come with 235/45/17's. The second thing that I'd like to address is the fact that you put wider tires on a winter wheel. It's better to use a narrower tire for winter so you have less of a contact patch in the snow. I'd recommend some 205's or 195's for your wheels instead.

Thanks guys, I agree with both of you. Thien, its not the balance, they were just mounted and balanced, and I thought they were 17x7...I figured .5 inch < would be ok...now though its a full inch and I think its a major problem. I am more concerned with safety first. Tim I am with you on the 3rd gen TL's and I think that's where I am going to go with this. My stock tire size on these rims were 215/50. When I ordered these tires, they didn't have them in the narrower size, but I just found them the other day...right after I had them mounted! I took into consideration the width, and it's a little bit wider, but I am in south jersey, right outside of Philly, and we only get 2 or 3 "bad ones" a year if that. I just needed new tires, and I mainly used getting these as an excuse to get new rims and tires for the summer. Looks like now though I will be getting a set of rims sooner than expected! Thanks for your input guys!

Actually either the TL-S or CL-S had 17x7 (not sure which one, or both) but the Accord had 17x6.5
Either way 235 is a big tire to put on 17x7 or 17x6.5

The CL Type S had a 17x7 rim option, but it is not the rim pictured in the first post.
The rim pictured here is the CL Type S rim that is a 17x7.

Ahh, ok. You are correct. The 2001-2002 CL Type S did have that wheel option, and in 2003, the CL Type S got a different wheel. The TL Type S is only a 17x6.5.

Tim or Thien what are the other two wheels that are 17x8...I know one is a 5-star, and I think the other one is a split 5-star...I like both of those as well. Do you guys know the part number for these as well? Thien I figure you must have a part manual or something??? Thanks, Mark
