sucks to hear man. For anyone else, if there is ever an animal in the way, just hit it, the chance of injury is less than spinning out of control and hitting a more permanent object (like a tree)

In MA, if you hit an animal, you are not at fault. In this case, you lost control of your car and you are at fault. At least that's the way it works in MA.

Hate to say it but from a traffic accident investigator in TN thats how it works too. Although, the animal can be noted in the report as a harmful even and in the narrative as a contributing factor

Post up the picutres i'll have a look. There is some damage to the unibody on mine around the bumper supports but, they just pull it straight, and reinforce it. Is your car an ex v6 or an i4? It really all depends what the book value is. The amount of damage needs to be over a certain % of what the value of the car is. I believe in RI it's 81%. In my case I'm between 70, and 75%

I know I was at fault for even touching the brake pedal during that event. but after 6 straight days of work with 5 hours of sleep max and it being 2am I wasn't capable of rational thought. I reflexed, and ultimately fucked up.

Everyone else thanks for the kind words!!! It feels pretty damn good to read some supporting words.

Wow dude those pics are rough...I'm glad you're alive. Cars can be repaired or replaced, but people can't... (unless you're one of those fake motherf*ckers..in which case you dicks are a dime a dozen)
It hurts to see any car like that, but moreso when you've put in all that hard work and time...
You mentioned going to basic training, I'm assuming that you're entering the military. Thanks for serving and come home safe (in advance).

Thanks Skip. I do what I can, and that's all I can do.
Yeah I went chasing after that motherfucker as soon as I kicked my door open. Fucking dog. I always thought that the day I wreck my car I'd at least have fun doin so.

no two cop cars came my way as I was running up the road. If it wasn't for them I'd have a skinned dog in the backyard, kept alive on morphine basking in a acid bowl.
