Wiper misses spot on windshield
«
on:
March 25, 2013, 09:35:51 AM »
i have been having this issue for a couple years and it keeps getting worse, i need some help diagnosing the problem so i dont just throw money at parts that arent needed. on the drivers side wiper, it floats over the middle of the windshield and leaves about a 6 inch circular spot that doesnt get wipes at all. ive tried new wipers of various brands and quality but still have the same problem. any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Have you tried just regular OEM wipers? I've seen the exact thing you are seeing with Rain-X blades but as soon as I switched to a framed blade, problem gone.

I have this problem too but on the passenger side.. I think Ben (dreaminaccord) did this too with Bosch wipers. He switched to OEM and problem gone as well.

My solution was the Michelin hybrid blades. Best of both worlds.

Yeah. That's the thing. Those style blades are notorious for leaving unwiped spots.

Didn't they change their design to the flex style recently?

I've used Bosch Icons for the past 8 years on my car. Since wipers are a wearable item, I replace them about once a year (that my car is on the road). I didn't have much luck with the RainX latitudes when I tried them. They started streaking not long after I put them on. If you haven't replaced your wipers in a while, I'd start with that first.

If OEM's do it, then you may want to look into replacing the wiper arms.
