Looking for a sub $300 Home Theater system (one of those home theater in a box systems)...any recommendations?

...and yes I know you can't get the best system for sub 300, but this is for a college apartment...I want something that if it were to get damaged/stolen, I wouldn't feel so bad...probably just going to use it for movies and parties

From that list I would def get the Onkyo system. I have a pretty nice Onkyo receiver in my bedroom and I like it a lot. Just an honest opinion, I wouldnt mess with a all in one system. I started with $350 box system. Then I replaced everything and the difference is well worth it.

FWIW, Onkyo is overcomplicated.  IMHO, just get whatever is in your price range at Sam's, Costco, BJ's.

Get Onkyo. Best "HTIB" possible. They also make great recievers...

My receiver was very simple to set up. If you get real detailed into it, it might get complicated. I just plugged everything up and ran the Audyssey auto calibration and haven't touched the settings since.
