Title: I seriously cannot take it any more...
Post by: skizot on February 11, 2010, 09:40:02 PM
I need to vent. I seriously cannot stand this new trend, fad, whatever the hell you want to call it.

Listen up. Stop !@#$ing installing wheels and tires that are not meant to be on your car. The rim sticking out past the design of the tire is beyond ridiculous and looks simply retarded. If you want a true staggered setup, get a car that can support it. 4 degrees of negative camber so your wheels will tuck. Really? It is just simply unnecessary and unsafe. Not to mention how ridiculous it looks. Sure, many people will say, damn that's slammed, hella flushed, whatever. To this I said, f--- off and stop putting other people in harms way for your stupidity.

I am so sick of people being put in harms way by this utterly ugly and ridiculous practice. This is not directed at anyone in particular, just a rant about this in general. I've said my two cents. I appreciate the forum to allow my voice to be heard.

Woah!  Hellaflush hate.  I have to side with you Scott.  The fact that it's a popular trend where the people promoting it are ignorant about how dangerous it is pisses me off.  I'm not into the "look" and think that anyone that promotes fashion over function should have their head examined.  On a happier note, this is my favorite post from an S2000 forum where some guy posted pics of his roommate's Accord sedan thinks he is the "first" person to ever put 10" wide wheels on a 7th Gen.  Here's the thread!

Low offset contet :D (http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?s=9cce77326047db59c648c7793e09ffab&showtopic=762671&st=0)

Quote from: "ECale3"
excessive, useless levels of camber - check

wheel setup improperly staggered for the drivetrain of the car - check

Rims far larger than necessary for the mounted tire sizes - check

rims poking out past tire sidewall like a puckered butthole - check

wheel and tire setup that negatively impacts the cars performance - check

Yup, you must be "hella flush approved"

I like, the rim right to the fender, not sticking out any further, without a stretched tire, (I love squared off tires)

that to me is ideal or my idea of "flush"

I'm with all of you and the description Asim made is EXACTLY the way the setup should be. Hellaflush is hellretarded because of the reasons Scott said. Good post man. That is why THIS forum is the Accord Performance enthusiast club.

Don't get me started...I might not stop. There are members, even on here, that give the world's most shitty advice on what will fit and how to make it fit. I am literally scared out of my mind that I am driving on the same roads as them. Here is just one example of many.

Leaving forum before I lose my mind.

I hate the whole hella flush look too but what I hate more is putting rims on your car that are worth more than the car. Like when people put big ass rims on old ass shitty domestics. Like crown vics and oldsmobiles

I disagree... I've seen some older Civics with Volk wheels that look amazing, and the wheels are worth more than the car

I'm not going to lie.  For a little bit, I was into looking at cars that were doing the hellaflush setup.   Aggressive wheel fitment is pretty cool, as long as it is done safely.  Some people took it too far and stretched a tire beyond its limits.  That's when I stopped caring about hellaflush because people were unsafely stretching a tire.

In my opinion, hellaflush as a trend is dying.  People are getting over it.  In the US, it's all about reverse staggered setups now.  Sure, reverse stagger has been around for a long time, but it's starting to become big.

I'm all about going with an aggressive wheel, as long as it is safe and doesn't look dumb.  That means a more aggressive wheel than stock that will give you that flush look, but still have a squared tire.

Sorry, I guess I should have clarified myself. I hate it when someone puts 24"s on a 90' Crown Vic. Like when you have to raise the car to put the rims on. That type of wheel worth more than the car.

Title: Re: I seriously cannot take it any more...
Post by: CrackerTeg on February 13, 2010, 09:35:34 PM
Its unsafe and impractical as hell. It looks like something in the suspension is broken and the asshat that bought those tires couldn't afford the right sized tires to fit the wheels he spent too much money on for a ridiculous look. How's that for a run on sentence?

I gotta agree with this too, I seen a few older civics with ccw's and it looks amazing. I personally think to each his own because rims are what set off a car (hellaflush or not). Everything else on the car is basically cookie-cutter designs or small mods here and there.

Dude, everyone but Neel is literally sucking that guys balls.  I'm sorry, but most of those guys on v6p don't seem to have much common sense and will just jock anyone's hellaflush/helladumpted set up.  I guess it's acceptable for your car to shoot sparks from the wheel wells when you encounter a small dip or bump on the freeway.  Way to make it even more unsafe douchebag.   I'm convinced that v6p is full of a bunch of fucking morons now.  Anyone that jocks something that stupid is a huge chach.

It's really all about a balance when it comes to modifying a DD street car.

Title: Re: I seriously cannot take it any more...

True but there's ZERO balance when it comes to that one that Lex posted.

Post by: clapton924 on February 16, 2010, 08:47:29 PM
+1 to the original post.  Its really stupid for all these posers to pretend they have a fucking lambo with a V10 engine.  Here in NOLA I see lots of the late 90's domestics with 22", 24", even 26" chrome rims.  Its so fucking stupid....

Unfortunately, many people in the custom car world have little intelligence.  There are enough aftermarket and OEM options for our cars that provide proper fitment that people don't need to be screwing around with all these unsafe custom setups.

If having 10" wide rims on your Honda Accord is the best thing going for you in life....well...hahahahaha

Ugghh.  Don't get me started about Titan Motorsports and their half ass customer service.  Those hacks almost fucked me up when I did my tranny swap.  I called to order my clutch 3 weeks before I came down there for the swap.  They said they would have it in 1 week.  I called them when I was driving down to make sure they had it waiting for me.  They said it wasn't going to be available until 2 or 3 weeks after I left.  I hammered them on the phone and made them get me one.  The manager there, Bottle, was a giant chach about the whole thing and kept trying to sell me a clutchmasters clutch.

I don't understand at all how people find that attractive. That has got to be the most ugly thing I have ever seen in the history of cars. I think it looks completely stupid when people tuck the rims under the fender...

I think that this (I love your car Skippy!) has got to be the best looking setup that I've seen.

The wheel well opening is the same distance around the whole tire, while still retaining that flushish look between the tire sidewall and the body. Now excuse me while I change my pants, I looked at that pic for too long.

OH DEAR GOD

imo, none of the cars pictured in that thread are that bad.  i actually like most of them.

The wheels on the civic aren't aggressive, and it looks like the civic is on airbags.  That would explain the negative camber while parked.

The 350z looks really good to me.  The tire doesn't look stretched; if it is, it is a slight stretch but is still mounted on a wheel that is on the approved width range of the tire.

That Accord has plenty of space between the tire and fender.  The wheels aren't aggressive at all, indicated by the lack of lip on those wheels.  The thing that the Accord does have is that it is tucking tire, and in my opinion, it looks great..

I agree with you Scott. I always thought it was ridiculous to have the rim out further than the tire. When that person hits the curb, i'll be laughing. Some of the accords I've seen look pretty nice but the ones with the camber gotta go.

If you guys really want to know how I feel, I think it's the stupidest fad ever.  That Accord is retarded looking.  There's a ton of camber in the rear, and none in the front.  Just that alone looks fucking retarded.  I just love how that asshat touts how big his wheels are (compensating for something maybe?), but doesn't say how much camber he's running or how much of a "stretch" he has.  Either way, it's dangerous.  He's not even going to look cool when he crashes his car.

I like, the rim right to the fender, not sticking out any further, without a stretched tire, (I love squared off tires)

that to me is ideal or my idea of "flush"

agreed, or if at most, sticking out just ever so slightly with a touch of camber (i.e. Ken's set up on his TSX Asim)

just enough to fill the wheel wells with no issues with rubbing or turning full lock

silly kids in Cali with ther stupid definitions on what is "flush" and what will "fit"....I wonder what the next fad will be
