Got a 39" Insignia basic little TV for kids play room. Out of the box the picture sucks which I knew going in. Thinking of investing in a calibrator. Any recommendations? Budget is maybe $250. I figure I'll use on all my TVs as well. Are these with the money?

I have a Spyder4PRO that I use for my computer monitors.  They sell a separate TV module.  I've never used one for a TV though, so I wouldn't be able to comment on that aspect of it.

So I have an upgrade with Verizon coming up on the 20th. I currently have an S3, and I'm thinking about switching over to the Moto X. I know it's a side step, but it's currently $50 with a new 2 year contact which isn't that bad. I think what we may do is use the upgrade on my mom's line (which doesn't have unlimited data), then re-activate her S3, then activate the Moto X on my line (hopefully keeping my unlimited data), then active my old S3 on my stepdad's line to get rid of his shitty iPhone 4.

HTC One (2014) releases really soon, if you want something newer.  I think it launches on Mar. 25.

What aftermarket electronic items do you have installed?

those with CF hoods: are you using hoodpins?
I've been thinking about getting one and can't decide whether to get hoodpins also...

 I would actually use hoodpins with a CF hood for some additional security.

OR.... Buy a quality cf hood..
