46  Suspension & Handling / Wheels & Tires / Re: Overall Rolling Diameter Chart on: June 04, 2008, 01:17:26 PM
Just to clarify on this, trying to figure out the equation for outer diameter.

x * y * 2 / 2540 + z

x = tread width
y = aspect ratio
z = wheel width

Thanks.

If I know him, he'll probably look into the SL500 again or something like that. Our neighbor has one like it and he really likes that. I just wishing he was getting our neighbor's Ferrari....
48  Styling & Maintenance / Interior Styling & Maintenance / Glowshift Gauge Pod on: May 28, 2008, 07:10:39 PM
Just had this delivered to me literally 15 minutes ago. Shipper was great, had it out the Friday before Memorial Day and it was here on my doorstep today (total of 3 business days) from PA to NC.

I had some birthday money and what not and wanted to upgrade my gauge setup, after seeing Skippy's setup and mine only being 2 with just latches. So, I ordered this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0240995226

The seller was actually Glowshift posting on Ebay. For what I got, it was worth every penny. 37 shipped was a steal! It came premolded AND painted my interior color (although its a bit off, but still real close). So far it looks like it fits like a glove.

I'm updating my current AEM UEGO sensor and Autometer SSII boost gauge and adding a similar Autometer oil pressure gauge. Should be done by Friday.

Moral of the story, if you want great premolded gauge pods for a great price, look for these guys.

I'll post finalized pics here when done.

Idk, my dad just seems to keep getting the same car and I want him to change. He's been driving the 7 series since I was born, with a brief stop at the SL500 and a jag. He really wants that sports car type like the SL500 again since I'm gone and my mom has the bigger car. He asked me to do some research since he knew I was in the big into the car world. He hates domestics too.

He needs enough space for our Black Lab and/or a passenger. He said the 750 was too big for him, too much of a gas guzzler, especially with rising gas prices. I'm moved out for college and my sister will be soon, plus my mom has an SUV. I haven't seen Iron Man but I heard its amazing.

I haven't built up any of my internals (if you put pistons, rods, valvetrain into that category) at all and I've been running the turbo for over a year now with only minor problems in reality. The downpipe broke because of the increased engine movement during shifts, installing three simple metal rods connecting the engine better to the car fixed that problem. I broke the springs in my clutch, but that can be attributed to a hundred different things. So to answer the turbo question, no it is not necessary to build up any internals unless you start going crazy. Just to note, I've run at least 300whp reliably.

Well Dad's lease is up on his 750 in June so he asked me what I thought he should get as a new car. I told him immediately, get an R8 or a GT-R. Whether or not he actually gets one of those is probably slight slim, but I'm working hard for the GT-R. If you had a similar choice, what would you advise?

I know its late, but I've ran 235/45/17 on 17x7.5 since Labor Day with no problems.
54  Suspension & Handling / Brakes / Re: Rate your brakes! (aftermarket products discussion) on: May 03, 2008, 10:46:30 PM
[Brake component]: Front rotors
[Manufacturer]: Powerslot
[Location of purchase]:Brakes R US or some website online, good price
[Impressions]: While I don't have the similar problems of the other two, I got the slotted and dimpled rotors. They take a bit to get warmed up, but have saved my life twice. Coupled with the BFG Sport tires makes a nice stopping power. I have noticed some similar vibration at highway speeds, but it was nothing like the stock rotors. Only had them on for 9 months, so roughly 10k.

[Brake component]:Front brake pads
[Manufacturer]: Hawk
[Location of purchase]: same as above
[Impressions]: Kind of same as above. Take some time to get warmed up, but are nice then. Big problem is the excessive amount of brake dust they cause. I just washed my car less than a week ago and the squealing/brake dust is incessant. The wheels are getting pretty dirty from the dust again too. I wouldn't buy these again.

If you're going to be doing some eventual other "swapping" I would suggest don't waste your time on something that isn't proven whatsoever. Going from firsthand experience, when your trying something thats never been done, expect tons of headaches and problems. I did tons and tons and tons of research, preparation, you name it, and was still left with unexpected problems and mixups on my build. If you intend on going with the turbocharger route or something else, then just wait and research that or save up your money for it to build something nicer. To add to the fact, the "flashing" of the ECU doesn't seem like it will work. There are premade k24 baselines tunes on the Kpro packages, but thats it, just baselines.
