Title: Coupe and sedan fender swapping
Post by: CrackerTeg on October 04, 2013, 03:00:33 PM
I had a thought earlier. Yes, its a scary thing and caused Scotland's national animal to be sacrificed. Sorry.

The coupes are capable of squeezing in some pretty wide wheels and tires with minimal work. JT's old coupe is a good example for those that remember. I think he had 265's all around at one point, iirc. Anyway, I'm curious if there are any differences in the coupe front fenders as far as overall space underneath compared to the sedan's. I looked up part numbers and they're slightly different but haven't had any luck with seeing if anyone had done it. Is this idea ridiculous or is there some merit to it?

Unfortunate side effect to me thinking.

Length might be different

Like Mike said, the length is going to be different.  It's the same reason why the hoods aren't interchangeable.  You should find a coupe and break out the tape measure and go from there.

I knew the hoods were different but wasn't sure about the fenders. Next chance I get, I'll measure out the two.

You'll get your chance in a few weeks. Then we can see what would be required to make it fit because like Mike said, they are different.
