Car History
I originally had a 2007 Accord Coupe EX-L 4cyl/5AT and I got bored of it. So I saved up some money for down payment and after waiting for two years, I found a 2006 Accord Coupe EX-L V6 6MT within 50 miles and traded in my Accord at the end of 2011. After a year of owning, I got out of a 3 year relationship and finally started modding very quickly. At this point, I am slowly building up while paying my car notes. I have ~$7k left w/4 yr finance and I wanna pay it off early by the the end of this year before starting on my J36/37 engine build.

Hahaha.  Just giving you shit man.  Post pics anyway.

Hahaha.  Just giving you shit man.  Post pics anyway.

ahaha I was hoping noone would notice. I used to lurk but then I kinda fell out of modding the Accord because I had girlfriend/school to worry about. But now I have time and money :)

@Hecreated487, It'll be a while before I get to the J37 build because of the car notes but for now I'm gonna build what I have until it dies. I'll try to post pics tomorrow. Gotta get an alignment done. Car has a lot of negative camber in rear right tire.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on June 29, 2012, 04:42:23 PM
Bump, just got my car back. I been having problems with my alignment and it turns out the j-power rear camber kit bushings went bad. I highly suggest everyone to stay away from these. I was told it was the exact same thing as the ingalls but cheaper. Apparently the rubber bushings are too soft. I only had these on for a month. And after I had an alignment one day, my car started wiggling like the wheels wanted to pop off or as it the lug nuts weren't tightened.

So I ordered a set of Ingalls rear camber kit and I just got them installed and aligned. Hopefully everything is good. I'll take pics tomorrow after I wash the car.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.  Sometimes you can save money and get a good deal on quality parts, but when you get cheap parts that say they are "the same as, but cheaper", it's usually because they cut corners and poorly copy the original design and use lower quality materials.  Glad to hear you decided to replace them with something a bit better.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on July 01, 2012, 02:55:36 PM
Yeah...I'm not one to cheap out on my car either. I'll pay more for superior quality but at the same time I will be frugal too. I uploaded a picture but I can't seem to make it bigger. Photobucket has changed since I last used it ages ago..

Just got the sway bars installed today. I went with the TL-S 27.0mm solid front sway bar. It is NOT a direct bolt on. I had a spacer machined and now the fitment is perfect. No play whatsoever. The car handles very well! Smoked Inspire headlights will be installed tomorrow. Will update with pics!  ;D

I'm jealous of the headlights ???. Where did you buy them from?

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on July 27, 2012, 01:54:44 AM
I bought them from another person who was selling his Accord. The lights are in good shape, according to the pics. I'd say a 9.5/10 and best of all 100% plug and play :) Just crossing my fingers and hoping the lights don't get damaged in shipping.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet

Oh sweet, good stuff man. What was the $damage?

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on July 27, 2012, 02:55:51 AM
He wanted $1200 shipped via paypal but me and several other members thought it was a bit high, considering most people have sold theirs for a lot less. $550-800 shipped. So given the condition and that the HID kit + wiring harness + misc parts come with it, I offered a price that was in between. So $950 shipped. He also threw in some 3000k foglight bulbs hehe.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: timot_one on July 27, 2012, 06:47:11 AM
Who was selling their Inspires?  $1200 is a bit optimistic for them.  Was it the OEM HID's that came with them too?

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: CrackerTeg on July 27, 2012, 07:47:08 AM
I remember that guy. He kept shooting everyone down since he thought his lights were made with gold or some shit.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: timot_one on July 27, 2012, 08:28:08 AM
You can get them new from BPT for $1050.  Not sure how the price goes up from being used.  Maybe he rubbed one out on them to make the difference in price?

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on July 27, 2012, 10:34:30 AM
True but I jumped on it because the wiring and misc parts to make it work were included + came with HID kit. I believe it's Phillips D2S 4300K. I also heard since these are imported that there would be a 1-2 month wait?

My alternative was going to be FX-R retrofit but I like the look and wanted to join the "exclusive" club  8-)

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: timot_one on July 27, 2012, 12:31:55 PM
I think the wait times depend on when Morris is planning on having another container sent. I think I waited about 4 months to get my "imported" parts from Japan.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: timot_one on July 28, 2012, 11:19:42 PM
Equips are awesome, but not for our cars.  I had a conversation with a guy about that last night.  He just got a set of Spoon SW388's.  They're sick wheels, but just don't look correct on newer cars.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: CrackerTeg on July 29, 2012, 09:47:01 AM
Yeah. Those kind of wheels came from the 90's and should stick to the 90's regardless of how awesome they are.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet

The look like old-school BBS's.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on July 30, 2012, 11:56:35 PM
LOL guys the wheels are my mechanic's for his drag Civic hatch he's building for his shop.

I had him redo the wiring on the Inspires. I have been driving with these for two nights and noone has flashed me so far. I love these and it definitely gives the car a new unique look. I've seen some other coupe owners (kids) driving by and they look. I'll post new pics once I get the Apexi WS2 installed.

Right now I'm looking for a permanent solution to the notorious creaky clutch pedal in the Honda 6MT's. I ordered a Prelude clutch master cylinder so hopefully it can work.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Arielit0oo on July 31, 2012, 12:19:51 AM
You won't get flashed at all with Inspires. Their output is not blinding but still sexy as fuck!

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on July 31, 2012, 12:29:25 AM
I read some people were getting flashed. The previous owner had aimed the left side down a little. Output is definitely better than stock. I'm sure a retro is a lot better but I don't think it's world's apart in terms of performance. The cutoff of course is not sharp, but I can still see it. You should definitely get a set to complete your front end.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Arielit0oo on July 31, 2012, 01:11:14 AM
Oh really? Damn, I was reading on v6p that the output wasn't that much to get flashed or maybe I misread . I did see retros do have a better output but, idk IMO I do not like their look on our cars. Yeah man, I'm definetely going to get a set. It's going to be my next major mod after I get my coilovers soon 8-)

I've been reading up on these lights, can't wait to see the pics...do they really need to cost a grand though? I mean, they're VERY nice (drool) but that would take a year or more to save up!

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Arielit0oo on July 31, 2012, 01:43:05 AM
Yeah they're around that price. They avg like $800(used)-$1000(new). They're definetely worth it because theres not that many Accords in the U.S. with them, are imported headlights from Japan and have a MEAN look.

Retros will have better output. Some of the retros I've seen remind me of the eBay headlights but retros will perform better. I just like the "OEM-look" and not a lot of people are running inspires either. A good way to be different. Are you gonna get the smoked or clear?

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on July 31, 2012, 02:19:40 AM
Hmm...so nice...maybe tax season lol

It'll run around $1200 if you buy a high quality HID kit and parts. IMO, since you're gonna spend big bucks on some headlights might as well buy top notch parts to make it look good and like it was worth it. But you never know though, keep an eye out for inspire headlight sales in classifieds.

I'm the same, man. I like the OEM look and especially with the aggressiveness of the Inspires. I honestly do not like retros because our cars do not come like that but hey, we all have our own cup of tee. I'm gonna go with the smoked to match my front end.

Inspires are awesome!  Retro's are pretty sweet too though, as long as they're done properly.  I think my retrofit looks pretty good and isn't gaudy like some people have.  I've always wanted to retrofit a FX35 bi-xenon projector in the high beam of a set of Inspires though.  That way you retain the look of the Inspire low beam, but you have the better performance of the projector.

Yes these are worth it! I love them. I always dreamed of inspire retros. I think the high beam area is big enough, however, the low beam is impossible to retrofit. Are you gonna tackle that project? Seeing how expensive these lights are, I don't think I would wanna mess with them. IMO they look perfect the way they are - Like headlights God would have on his car

Hehe wayy to big to be eyelids. It's a custom decklid spoiler for the 06-07 coupe - those did not have any decklid spoilers from Honda

I'm torn between the performance of a retrofit, but the look and rarity of Inspires.  If I do it, I'm going to try it myself or go to a well known retrofitter.  I guess it's just my thing though.  I like having stuff that nobody else has.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on August 02, 2012, 12:32:34 AM
Part of the reason I went with Inspires is because of the rarity (I like to have things that nobody, or many people have) and that I found that a lot of people went from retros to Inspires and prefer the Inspires over the retros.

Guys I need your opinion! I am looking at getting foglights but I am debating between a set of smoked ebay fogs + OEM harness & switch OR OEM 100%. Do you guys think the car will look weird with OEM fogs and the Smoked Inspires?

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Arielit0oo on August 14, 2012, 02:05:46 AM
Do they sell clear OEM Fogs for your car? I think clear fogs would look good, with some HIDs.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on August 14, 2012, 02:21:24 AM
eBay sells clear but if I go with clear I'm just gonna get OEM's all the way. I'm just worried it might look weird with clear fogs and smoked head lights. Only one way to find out eh?

*updated

Exhaust installed - definitely opened her up  :P Got good butt dyno readings when I merged onto the interstate. Sounds like a VQ but considering a 22" resonator to tone the rasp.

TL-S wheels are finally on. They sit almost flush but didn't realize they would rub on turns. Overall I like them.

Next thing coming up is installing the custom decklid spoiler.

Thanks guys, Z is right. The cadillac next to me is the one that hit me. Here's what happened: It was school traffic hours and I came to a red light behind a car (not in the picture). The light turned green and for some reason the car in front of me wouldn't budge. I think it was because the other side of the light was full of cars so he did not Want to pull into the middle of the intersection and block traffic. I looked up at my rear view mirror and saw the Cadillac coming and braced myself. She was attempting to change lanes and swerve around me but the problem was she was going too fast and I was a a dead stop so she failed miserably. As soon as my car was hit, it got pushed forward, nearly
Hitting the car in front of me.

Had my inspires been damaged, I would've raised hell
It's the worse feeling ever seeing it happen and knowing you can't do anything :/

Lol for real... They're always trying to speed in tight areas or 30mph zones... I don't get it.

Taxi drivers here suck too. Jeremy I posted a few times on your page suggesting we meet up but I don't think you read my post.

Sucks what happened to your ride man. Something similar almost happened to me earlier this summer. I was waiting to make a left onto my street and the truck coming behind me wasn't paying attention. I saw him in my mirror and with seconds to spare, i popped the clutch just as he hit his brakes and start sliding, went up on the curb just missing a street sign. Anyway, hope it all gets resolved soon.

Man you got lucky. Unfortunately there was a car in front of me so I was SOL. I have to drive like this for a week until the police report processes. Crossing my fingers there's no serious frame damage  :'(

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Rich01 on September 12, 2012, 06:33:25 AM
Yeah i did. Driving right now, do you feel any difference in the handling? If not, then more than likely the frame is fine.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet

No, car still drives smooth and straight  :)
I looked behind the taillights, looks like trunk area got dented in.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: CrackerTeg on September 12, 2012, 07:32:52 AM
That shouldn't be too bad then. Hell, have you seen Ike's? His entire rear end was destroyed by a dump truck. Looks like new now. Just replace a skin, a little hammer and mud work and voila!

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on September 12, 2012, 05:24:25 PM
Yes I've seen Ike's and I for sure thought it was gonna be totaled out.
I took the car to the body shop today and it turns out that there's no frame damage. The trunk is just dented in so I will need a new skin and some body work along with a new trunk, bumper and taillight. Sucks to have to drive another week like this. But once it's all said and done, she will have the front, rear lip, sideskirts, decklid spoiler and roof spoiler on.

One good thing came out of this though. A while back, some scumbag keyed the whole left side of my car. I was able to get some light marks buffed off but the keyed marks on the rear side panels were down to the metal but that's the same area that will be painted to match the rest of the car  :P

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet

That's good news.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet

And also...my personal mechanic who does 95% of the work on the car inspected it as well. Turns out being lowered actually prevented more possible damage. Judging by how low the area of damage was, if I was on stock height, she would have slid under my car and further damage the side panel along with my mint TL-S wheels :(

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Arielit0oo on September 12, 2012, 11:08:36 PM
Shit, first Ike, now you. I'm about to get in an accident on purpose to have my whole car resprayed lol.

Also, with all those mods you're going to do, your Coupe is going to look sweet man.

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on September 12, 2012, 11:35:29 PM
With your front end work, I would not. I was really close to having my front end damaged as well.
Hopefully everything works out. My coupe pretty much looks like every other coupe on the forum (lip, TL-S wheels) lol. But I has the custom decklid spoiler to separate me from the rest ;). I was gonna have it put on last week too. Good thing I didn't or else it would've been gone..

I ordered the rear spoiler but was not available in my color. Apparently all that's left is blue :( I'll keep this updated.

Yeah man, your ride will look sweet. And to me, you're ride is seperate from other coupes because of those orgasmic headlights lol. I too have TL S wheels for now but I think I'm really making them work.

Thanks for the kind words. Before the accident I finally started getting compliments. Makes me appreciate the car even more. As far as I know, I am alone. There are no accord enthusiasts here unless you count ricers. The majority of the car community is made up of 240's, subies, Z's, civics, mustangs, camaros, etc. I strive to be different and I want to show them what Accords can do  ;D

Yeah... That's why I decided to keep my Accord. It's overlooked, sleeper and like you said, show them what a real Accord could do.

You should get the sideskirts and rear lip for the inspire sedan to really set her off from the rest.

Update: Had no problems with the adjuster so it looks like I will be getting all OEM parts. With 142k miles I almost had the car totaled out. Thank God for Hondas being able to hold their value. The good thing is for $1k more I get the whole car resprayed :)

Dude...get rear ended and do a 06-07 rear conversion...jk

I just got really really lucky. If the car got totaled out, I would be really screwed. On the upside, the exterior mods will be 90% complete in 3 weeks. All I am looking for now are TSX mirrors and OEM door visors.

Z- I know, but Tim isn't sure if there's heated functions. I have the button and I still want a mirror with it. And it's also a different silver but if it does have heat function then I'd be willing to take them

Thien- I like the TL mirrors but I heard they
Won't fit perfect like the TSX.

Call me nit picky guys  :-X

Thanks, I would definitely recommend it. The only downside is cost but when it's all said and done you'll be staring at your car a lot more. Sets your car off from the other coupes and gives it a whole new look.

True but it tends to get lost on the black color so that's why I wasn't ever crazy about it.  It looks great on silver and white, especially the rear lip with the contrasting portion.

sorry about the clutch bro, car looks tight. =)

Hey bro how much of a difference did the j pipe make? or you think i should just delete the third cat and put a test pipe?

Title: Re: [Profile]Silver Bullet
Post by: Silver Bullet on November 01, 2012, 12:01:45 AM
Yeah clutch sucks :/ I don't even drive it hard or slip it much at all.

Get either the RV6 V3 Jpipe or XLR8 V2. I'm not sure how it is if you have emissions tests but for max gains I would go for either of the ones I listed. They even made more power over the J-pipes with the test pipes.
