06 TSX wiper arm swap
«

I've been following
this thread
over on driveaccord and it looks to be a promising mod. I give the guy props for coming up with the idea and then going through with it. I know I find myself cursing Honda engineers with regards to the driver's side wiper arm being in the middle of the glass and blocking my radar detector. Just figured some of you guys would be interested.

I'm definitely interested, as long as the arm doesn't cost a shitload. Chances are it will, lol. I believe you can get away with installing just the driver side arm, right?

I hope so it is so tall on my coupe that it actually blocks the windshield washer.

Honda Engineers were asleep that day and someone from Mazda came in and hacked up the drawings

Go for it man. My only concern would be that the spline from the Accord motor will not match up with the hole of the TSX arm. If you're successful, post the results. Actually, post the results if you're unsuccessful too.

The guy that started the thread on DA posted the results on the second page. I was waiting to see how it went and he was successful. From what I saw, you really only need the driver's side. I think he's replacing both though.

Yeah, the passenger side isn't nearly as bad. For my car, it only sticks out maybe 1/4" past the hood. The driver side arm is just ridiculous, lol.

Looks like the wipers are about $50-60 a side. I'm not sure if I'd be willing to pay over $100 for wiper arms that nobody would notice to begin with. That's just me though. I'd prefer to spend my money on something else. Let us know how this works out for you though.

$46 is a bit steep for just one side... Would normal Accord spec'd wipers still fit with the TSX arm, or are there different designs? This looks like a cool mod, but like Tim said, if the price could drop a little (not our faults), it'd be a little more worth it.

I took a closer look at my wipers when I drove home from work today, and the PS isn't really bad. You could get away with just the DS wiper for that low profile wiper arm.

Exactly what I was thinking Tim.
Jeff, I believe the wipers are the same size regardless of it being TSX or Accord. If anything, whenever you buy wipers the new ones would come with whatever clip you need.

I don't think it looks right with just one done. Do both if you're going to do it.

Good point. I just think it's too much to spend on wiper arms.

doesn't this look like it would be unable to be lifted off the windshield?
