my car need an alignment pretty bad. im installing the TL-S rear sway this weekend. i want to get an alignment today. should i wait till after the mod?

Your sway bar won't affect your alignment at all. Go ahead and do your alignment today if you want to man.

I would caution this notion. I installed a rear sway bar and mysteriously my rear tires wore out after 5k miles.  Before the rear sway install I had the car aligned a few months prior. To be safe I would install the sway bar and then get your alignment done.

The rear sway doesn't affect the suspension geometry like a drop does. Matter of fact, there's actually no tension on it at all until there's lateral movement. I don't think your RSB caused your premature tire wear IMHO. It could possibly be because you may have done the same thing a lot of us do with a new part and started thrashing. I know I did.

Yeah, that event is still a mystery to me. Though if you have the option of doing your alignment before or after...why not play it safe and do it after. I dunno...

I'm a bit surprised also.  I don't think that a RSB would affect your suspension geometry though.  I'm pretty sure that Thien can also shed some light on this since he does this for a living and knows our suspension very well.

i think im gonna hold off on the alignment for a couple of weeks. im waiting on the rear sway. i kno once i get that one im going to want or need the front. so then and only will i do an alignment.... now to do an alignment should i have my stock wheels on? can i do it with my 18x8's

well that depends.... in the spring/summer i normally use the 18's and in the fall/winter i use OEM 16's. soooooo........... lol i normally use both i guess

I usually get an alignment done about 3 to 4 times a year.  Usually every time I change my ride height.  I'm sure you'll probably want to get another alignment done before the winter.

We are heading into the summer season so do it with your 18's. The best practice would be to have it done anagin every time you switch wheels.

Installing a rear sway bar should not affect your alignment. The front sway bar on the other hand will require an alignment. Only parts related to your alignments IE: control arms, struts, tie rods, knuckle, and hub bearing will require an alignment after replacing. The rear sway bar or stabilizer bar is to help prevent body roll and prevent any type of flexing to your suspension components and chassis.
