Anyone seen these new belts and belt setups the new fords are running? It's pretty cool they have no tensioners or idlers and the belt stretches it's kinda neat.

08 TL, nav auto  $21500 45k mi


I've been test driving a few cars lately and here are two of them. I'm leaning towards the Maxima only bc V6 auto honda trans scare me. Give me your opinions though. Thx

From these two, I would go with the TL.

Aesthetically, I like the TL more.  I just think it looks better. 

The Maxima has more hp/tq but unless it has an LSD, it'll also have more torque steer.  The TL doesn't have an LSD except for the TL-S.  This is a moot point if the Maxima doesn't have one either.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about an auto trans in a 2008.  You should be fine.  Now if you said, 2003-2004, that would be a different story.

I am also not a fan of CVT transmissions, so I wouldn't care for the Maxima in that respect.  If auto is boring, then CVT is on the, "I would rather sit in the backseat drinking coffee and reading a newspaper.", level of boring.

Acura's NAV system is one of the leaders in the car industry; at least in terms of accuracy.

The TL also has better resale value.  For the amount of time you'll probably keep the TL, you'll have a better chance of losing less money or breaking even with the TL than the Maxima.

You would hate the cvt trans jer. You will miss the shift feel when the cvt does not shift.
