During the summer time I put the below pictured oem roof rack on my car because my wife and I like to bike in different places on the weekends when we can.  It becomes a pain in the ass to have to remove and install it every time so I typically leave it on for the late spring / summer / early fall months.  Point is, during my drive yesterday to D.C.  I noticed roughly a 3 - 4 mpg drop in gas mileage with the rack on the highway.  I need to get a front fairing.  Thinking of getting the Inno 39" fairing to help with fuel mileage.

-.- so for the past month and a half, I've been getting 250-200 mpg. Before I would put gas at 325 which was a 1/4* of a tank left.... I've changed sparkplugs to ngk laser iridium, changed the filters, put synthetic oil in. any ideas?

I believe 44" is the correct size fairing for our cars.  I just put my rack on last week and haven't filled up yet.  I'm gonna fill up tonight and we'll see what a difference it has made.  If its noticeable I may be askin for a fairing for xmas. Cheesy  (I also have an OEM Honda (rebadged Thule) roofrack)

But as for gas mileage I am absolutely LOVING my 6-6.  I started using Fuelly.com back in June or July and its great.  Since then I've been averaging 25.5 mpg mixed driving with a best of 30.3 mpg on the highway.  And that trip was down to NC from PA with the cruise set to atleast 80 mph the whole time. Cheesy

Okay tell me if I'm understanding this right. For a month you have been getting 200 - 250 miles per tank. Previously you would fill up after 325 miles, and at 325 you had 1/2 a tank left?

So 2/4 ‘s = 1/4 maybe my math was wrong I thought it was ½. Have your driving habits/routes changed?

no, i drive the same, i actually have to rive slower because its 35 on post. but 13 mpg? i doubt it would get that low, i've taken her on the highway, just to test it out to see if i gotbetter on highway, its about the same..in fl at 325 i had 1/4 of a tank left. when i got here TX gas mileage dropped about 15-20 miles, figured t was because of the diffence in altitude. and slowly it would go lower and lower per fill up. until the beginning of OCT, where i would get 200 mpg., and its stayed around there. there is another guy here on post with a 4 cyl 4 door 5mt, and he gets around 300..

*edit* lol just noticed i put 2/4 on the pother post i meant 1/4... lol

Yeah that isn't right.  When I had my i4 5at I would get 25mpg only if I floored it a lot and never went on the Highway on that tank. It averaged around 27 to 30. Have you tried using some sort of cleaner? Does anyone on here recommend Seafoam? That shit kind of scares me so I've never tried it. I've used some of the STP fuel system clears before but to be honest it didn't really do much. I noticed maybe a 1mpg increase and very slightly better performance (might have just been in my head).

On a side note, I completely agree with you Ryan, my 6-6 is great for gas mileage. I got 32mpg average on my way up to Chicago a few months ago and almost 400 miles on that tank. For normal driving I get right around 300 miles a tank and 22-23mpg (I do like to floor it occasionally). Much better than what I first expected from the J30.

Ahhh, damn. I seem to remember reading somewhere that this was happening to other people too. Unfortunately I can't remember if I read it on V6P or DA  but I'll keep an eye out for that thread for you.

I used it once, didnt really notice a difference.  I usually throw in Lucas FI Cleaner every couple months.
