Here are a few things that I know.  There is a known 3rd gear issue for the J30 6MTs.  There is a fix for that from Honda.  I'm just not sure how reliable the fix is.  Another thing that I know is that my 5MT and 6MT handled the abuse they received from me.  I also want to bring up the fact that there are guys like Cham, who have a stock Accord 5MT with only a LSD as a tranny upgrade, that is making 480 whp for daily driving and 560 whp on high boost.

I doubt that "Fix" they gave me is going to last.  I would bet money, that the moment my car is completely out of warranty, that issue will come right back to haunt me.

Not sure if you guys believe the Consumer Reports guys or not but I read all the books on new/used cars. And they gave my 03 trans all black (which is bad but only affects like less than 10%) and I never had any issues with it, albeit it was an auto. 150k+ miles and I changed the trans fluid twice FTW!

Hopefully my 6MT will last me, as long as I change the fluid regularly I should be ok.

Alot of the issues with the pre 05 automatics I attribite to the cooling issues. They had a recall and added a jet to the transmission to increase cooling in a certin area (3rd gear I think) but, if your car already had 25k -30k before the jet was added isn't the damage already done?

All I have to say is that guy is an idiot.  I have owned my car since day one.  The first transmission lasted through 5 full HPDE road course  track days, the infamous burnout, about 7 or 8 times at the dragstrip(one had 22 runs) and 6 auto-x.  The sad thing is that it broke first gear due to me not noticing that the shift cable had come out of it's end and gave the shifter extra slack.  That meant that the tranny was riding the edges of the gears and not fully engaging them.  It didn't break until I had 120k on it while being launched at its 7th auto-x.  Cannot complain about that.
P.S.  all my runs at the strip were between 15.8 and 15.3.  Almost never had wheel hop once I learned how to properly launch it.

On the contrary mine has been worked on 5 times, three of those rebuids in 2 years under normal driving conditions... Some good, and some bad.

I think we need to point out that there is a big difference between the J30 AT and the K24 5MT.  It's not really a fair comparison Mike.
