Or maybe it was something about the pipe being in a different location or something...I'm not sure where the sound is coming from, but one of my coworkers suggested just getting a paper tube and trying to listen with that to see if there are any air leaks. I'll try that tonight.

The guy that put my exhaust on said it might be because of the flex pipe that isn't on the oem headers? like maybe there's a slight break-in period, but hes not sure...

yes, yes, but no...I''m pretty sure its coming form the obx headers because I hear it from the engine bay when I rev the engine...
4  K Series Performance / Bolt Ons / Weird sound from new exhaust on: July 06, 2010, 12:38:23 AM
Hey everyone, so I just installed a whole new exhaust on my k24, and there is this weird higher-pitched semi-whining sound that seems like its coming from the headers? Its hard to describe, but it kinda sounds like its extra air movement maybe but all the joints in the system seem fine and theres nothing coming out anywhere. Anyone else ever experienced anything similar? I'll try and record it tomorrow.

The system is a OBX 2 piece in to a magnaflow highflow cat, in to a greddy evo sp2

hey guys, so I'm thinking about doing something with my exhaust. I'm thinking maybe the magnaflow kit MAGNA-15799?
http://www.essentialgears.com/tho/tr/pr ... 28374.html

From the pictures, or from what I've been able to see, it looks like a 4" opening, and 2.5" from the cat back? Would that just look too ricer if I had a 4" exhaust opening? Would a kit for the v6 with dual tips fit a K24?

So I finally called them yesterday, and they've already switched suppliers...They have a new supplier that makes the lines slightly different, I can't remember how they're different, but he's sending me a pair to check them out, so they'll be here tomorrow or thursday. As for the other ones failing, he kept saying how its almost unheard of, and how it doesn't make sense.

yup, this is the second time it happened on the same side, the first time it happened to the opposite side. The first time it happened on either sides was near the top of the line, and the 2nd time it happened it was near the mount. I still haven't called them yet, but hopefully I can call them within the next few hours...

Yea, so it just doesn't make sense why it would happen. It happened near the fittings too, not just right in the middle, so it has to be more then rubbing. Maybe the lines are just a hair too short and my car should just be lowered...hum...Driving in to work this morning did suck though, I don't think I really appreciated how well the kit really did improve my braking Sad

I'll contact fastbrakes when they open and figure out what kind of line it is, but seriously, its pretty retarded how the lines fray. I mean shouldn't the metal jacket PROTECT the line??

apparently, with the wilwood kit, you're suppose to rotate the bracket that holds the line to the car so that it moves it away from the wheels...I just talked to the guy at fastbrakes and he was like yea, you really need to rotate that so the line won't get near the wheels. I guess he should have put that in the directions...anyways, new lines on the way YAY Smiley $65 Sad booo

Good thing you weren't going downhill or something. I know SS lines are expensive. My Brembo BBK Goodridge line is 120 EACH Sad

Kind of OT but does Goodridge sell only rear SS in a package or do i have to buy all four?

So after my car was put back together...the new lines only lasted until the end of the year...and this time I was going down hill...atleast I only curbbed one wheel, but yea, bad. I have no idea why the lines would chose to fray and get slicked now. Its been so many months without any issues. But I guess its time for the bbk to come off and the oem's to go back on. I'll go bbk again later, but for now, I'll just go back to stock.

it was the ss line that came with the wilwood bbk. I don't know what it is, but for some reason, every single auto parts store in the area was sold out of braided lines and I think I've tried every other place I can think of, so I'll probably order a new one from fastbrakes on monday. E-Brake was the only thing stopping my yesterday, but the beeping was really annoying, but i'll take beeping over crashing...

OMFG, worst Friday the 13th yet...I was stopped at a light and was holding down the brakes, and all of the sudden, no pressure...i'm like ok...thats odd...pump it a few times and still nothing. Luckily there was a parking lot near by, so I pulled in to have a look. I couldn't see any leaks on the d riverside, so I went around to the passenger side, it was raining earlier so it just looked like the wheel wells were wet, so I checked the master cylinder, and it was empty Sad I double checked the lines, and wiped them off and there was obviously brake fluid sprayed all over the passenger side wheel well. Upon closer inspection, the braids were all frayed and the tube was slit. Now I need to go find a new line Sad
