front runners:
Enkei Ekm3 (still the ones i have wanted for a longgg time) black
HFP RGR-16D (18x7.5 +55 Accord HFP Rims from 2008+ accessory) Come in CBP to match my car

I scraped my side on the garage a week ago, do you think most of this will buff out?
(exception: the body molding, scraped down to the plastic so not really much that can be done there)

BTW what you see is white paint from the wood panel of the garage, it doesnt look like it got through the clearcoat but I could be wrong.. I am speaking with my local detailer to see what he can do

The molding looks like it will need to be replaced or painted but, the spot by the wheel well looks like it will buff out.

Rims installed today..

Offset looks big in the back because it isn't dropped yet.... gotta get ingalls camber kit

So far feels surprisingly smoother than my winters, I expected it to be harsh but not so since i was so used to winter tires

so far 06-07 coupe rear lip on 06-07 sedan is not going very well

its a tiny bit shorter than the bumper's edge there and the creases are in slightly different spots leading to gaps in different spots... its very hard to push out these gaps so that you can get the other end to hook over the bumper, also definitely some cutting needs to be done as i dont have the v6 bumper

suspension installed: passenger front rubs quite abit over a regular bump, it seems slightly lower than drivers side which is not rubbing.... what can I do about the rubbing? I could raise it (time + some money), replace tires (too much money), do something with the fender??

I will see if I can live with it so far, it has to still settle

Can the front even be rolled? there isn't much of a fender there, its the liner that gets hit

Eibach Sportlines on Koni Yellows, I think lowest perch front... Lexani's old set

Hmmm, try pulling the fenders and maybe a 3-5mm spacer front and rear. What's the offset on the wheels now?

18x7.5 +45 225/45/18 tires <--- tire is probably why it rubs, lexani had 225/40 and i dont think he rubbed

wouldn't adding a spacer make rubbing worse? i think i will run the setup for awhile and see how much it bugs me and then eventually raise it by a perch all around if it bugs me

Title: Re: [Profile] Asimo , DROPPED!
Post by: CrackerTeg on June 05, 2010, 05:23:42 PM
Its very possible its the tire. Ride it out for a bit and see what happens. Have you checked out the tire size calculator?

Title: Re: [Profile] Asimo , DROPPED!
Post by: MTsixspeed on June 05, 2010, 05:28:26 PM
Raise the perches. I have the same Koni dampeners, just with Neuspeed springs. My passenger side rubbed the fender liner too until I raised the perch to the highest setting on the front. My rears are in the neutral position. Of course mine is a V6 coupe so the front is much heavier, which is why I had to raise it to the highest perch.
I wonder if the Sportlines have a higher spring rate than my Neuspeed race springs. I need stiffer springs in the rear because if I have a passenger in the back, the back rubs! FAIL.

Title: Re: [Profile] Asimo , DROPPED!
Post by: Asim on June 05, 2010, 07:12:39 PM
thanks chris, glad someone with the similar setup could chime in

gonna ride it out, and then if it comes to it i will raise all around (rear maybe, depending on how i like the tucked look or how i rub when i get my alignment)

Title: Re: [Profile] Asimo , DROPPED!
Post by: CrackerTeg on June 05, 2010, 08:03:08 PM
Its possible if you go up one perch all around, you'll still have a great ride height and you won't rub. Up to you.

Thats the most likely solution!

If you're  only rubbing fender liner, cut the fender liner.  Fender liners are cheap if you ever want to replace it.  If you're rubbing metal, then slightly roll the fender.

I'm actually surprised you are rubbing with a 7.5 +45 and 225 width tire.  You're more than likely just rubbing fender liner, which would mean cutting the liner so you don't rub against it.  Or you could do what I did when I had my Accord, be lazy about cutting it and just rub the liner until it stops rubbing, lol..

This is what I did for the first two years! My passenger side liner is worn away in the one spot it used to rub.

Post by: Asim on June 13, 2010, 12:51:46 PM
there is only 2 perches, not three like i thought
so i couldn't raise it, i got my alignment and I love how the car looks... i'll have to live with it or switch to 225/40/18

I don't think the V6 is much heavier... Maybe 40 lbs

looking good bro! hey chris you rubbed in the front with the tl-s wheels thats weird. i do have a 4cyl but im on the second last perch all around and i dont rub at all with my tl-s wheels even with passengers. you think maybe cuz you have 245 tires?

Of course that is part of the issue. My 245/45 are the perfect size for these 8" wide wheels, but with the car lowered on wider tires, it would naturally yield less space in the wheel well. It's worth it to me. I raised the front and love it now. I would never want to stretch 215's or 225's on these wheels. It looks fuckin' terrible and it's definitely not my style. Rubber-band tires=FAIL

You can roll the fender to be safe

I just BARELY tucked 225/45 in the rear... like BARELY less than a finger, but theres no way it will rub since as it depresses it goes inward

Front however is less than a finger gap for me but goes straight up into plastic fender heh

He'll also have a little more room as the coupes and sedans wheel wells are different. The coupes can get away with a much more aggressive setup than the sedans can.

I had a sedan and didn't need to roll my rear fenders when I had my TL wheels (same spec as TL-S wheels).  I was tucking tire.

i tucked the liners today under the fender tabs, and its got just over a finger of clearance now (up from almost zero)

Was it scraping against the hood? It must have.  I have a sunroof visor that I bought off of Jeff, that's my only concern with those type of things. That the clips will scrape the paint off and expose the bare metal.

I hope you plan on getting it painted. It's just going to keep on growing if you don't take care of it.

Painting it would be the smart thing to do.  Don't cover it up.

Was there rust before the hood deflector was installed?

Nope, the brackets didn't cause rust (just some clear coat damage) The rust is coming from underneath, its got bubbles along the front edge. There isn't real visible rust, but some discoloration. Its all underneath the paint. My guess is the holes under the hood got water inside and rust ended up there.

To fix that I'd have to repaint the entire hood, but how will I be sure the rust is stopped from underneath?

Title: Re: Re: [Profile] Asimo - updated

Rust underneath is definitely a bitch to get rid of it. That almost calls for a replacement.

Title: Re: [Profile] Asimo - updated
Post by: timot_one on October 16, 2012, 11:10:51 PM
It really depends on how deep the rust goes.

Title: Re: [Profile] Asimo - updated
Post by: Asim on October 16, 2012, 11:11:56 PM
Asean grill chrome strip will hide the bubbles, I could live with this hiding underneath... whenever this eventually breaks through I can get front end painted and new hood (maybe by then I don't own the car?)

So after taking the bumper off a few times, I have this bolt and i can't for the life of me recall where it goes.

I had taken off the grille, bumper cover and installed a CAI... I am thinking this bolt is from under the body holding the black plastic together but not actually the bumper, and was removed by mistake.... any idea?

Yea rust is a bitch up here, high mileage car too :)

I am almost done modding the ASEAN grille onto the car.... just need to stick the chrome pieces back on and logo

Title: Re: [Profile] Asimo - updated
Post by: Asim on November 03, 2012, 11:31:22 PM
All is well, the grill has been installed.

Once modded, the gaps become insignificant because of the angle you view them at. When it was unmodded the angle was shallow so the gaps were very pronounced. Now they don't even show up.

I am extremely happy with how it turned out.

Pretty much follow the Joe Danger thread guide to a tee, you don't need to shave down the middle vents though if you are on a 2006-2007 bumper (since there is nothing in the way.

Dremel off the screw mounts, and the bottom clip mounts. JB weld the chrome in place. I cut a little extra at the top corners where he did, it helped allow the grill to sit closer in. Use all the top clips on the grill, make sure you line up that little hood vent under the grill.

The top clips are a little tricky to get in. I suggest keeping the top plastic piece (from under the hood) in your hand and attach the grill to it with some help, slap the clips in. Then go use the top and grill now combined, to mount it to the car.

The only improvement I can do now is to zip tie the bottom of the grill to the bumper to keep the bottom of the grill from rattling with the bumper, and hold chrome pieces as close to the body as possible.

Note: I have not zip tied the bottom yet, but will in the coming days. It won't significantly change the fitment except for reducing the bottom gap slightly.

Very heavy, bad fuel economy as a result. Grip feels good. Can't compare to S.drive yet since its been only one day. Feels smooth

Also, since I went narrower size I am guessing it will always have less grip than my S.drives did

First attempt I wiped out in the basement... best tip is to practice clipping in and out while stationary, with only one foot. Then when you are ready to start using both feet -> clip one in from a stop... start pedaling with the one foot to get some momentum once you are happy with the momentum clip the other side in and keep moving!

I actually tried it out on grass first, and fell a few times trying to get a hang of it..  I'm starting to become more comfortable with it, and not having to think as much about clipping out when coming up to a stop.
