Title: How To: Remove Door Panels
Post by: MyNameIsThien on February 06, 2009, 08:49:43 PM
I reuploaded the images from my computer.  I don't know what happened to them on my flickr account.  I may have accidentally deleted them.

Remove the rubber trim in the door

Remove the screw

Remove the plastic trim piece behind the door pull.  I used a kitchen knife

Remove the screws

You will have to use one finger to hold the door pull open so that you can undo the screw hiding behind it

Pry off the sail panel.  I was able to do this without any tools

There's one clip holding the sail panel in place

This is where it gets interesting.  You will have to disconnect the window controls, the door cable, and the door light to take the door panel off.

The window controls are clipped in.  All you have to do is press the tab shown in the second picture.  Twist the light, pull out clip holding the wire to the door, and pull it out.

After you remove the door release cable this is what you should end up with!

Check out the cool blue speakers!

Here's the clip after the speaker is removed.

I have had a rattle in my driver's door for weeks now. It might be the speaker's press-in clip since it rattles harder when I play music loud. I feel more confident about tackling this project now. I am going to look into this. Thanks Thien!

Might be, but not likely.  Those clips are extremely stiff (I know, I busted them on both sides of my car when removing them to do my sound upgrade.  its more likely just about anything else in your door including cables and your door locks.

Removing the panels isn't hard at all. Just make sure not to break the clip that controls the locks, otherwise your in a world of hurt, i had to jbweld my friends clip back together bc he didn't realize how fragile it was and just pulled like there's no tomorrow.

I'm also getting some pretty heavy rattling in my side doors, and they're mainly coming from the window controls. I bet there's a bunch of screws that have loosened up or something. How long did it take to take off the door panel?

The window controls are held in place by clips actually.  Nothing can be tightened up.

Well that's just stupid, lol. I guess I'm stuck with this annoying rattling then :\

I never said that.  You can still get rid of the rattle if you stop the vibration.
