Lit-up Speaker Grills

I'm sure this is more of a rice thing than anything else, but I liked the concept. If you noticed the commercials on the new Kia Soul cars, the speaker grills light up and apparently strobe to the rhythm of the music. I was wondering on an electrical standpoint, does anyone have any idea on how this was achieved? Maybe one day I'll end up doing the same to my Gen7, lol. It'd be a nice touch for when I'm rocking to some techno music, haha.

Hah, I probably won't. Makes me wonder how annoyed some of the people get when they get their new Kia Soul and have to see that anytime they want to listen to music.

i like the idea of having dim lights in the grill, but not the strobe feature. had a friend that had underseat neons that did it and it got real annoying, real fast.

I had those in my Mitsubishi Mirage like 7 years ago and they strobed with the music as well. And yes it did get very old very fast. LOL!

I'm not sure about them pulsing with the music, but they should make circular CCFL tubes in a large enough diameter. I'm not that crazy about the idea myself, but who knows. As an accent, these would be up there with under dash lights. If it's the right color and not extremely bright, it could be pulled off and not look like complete dog shit.

I'd give this a try. But I agree I think without any pulsations it'd look better. A friend of mine has some clarion speakers with a built in LED that flashes to the beat of music.

Putting some of those EL lights around it sounds cool. How would you get it to power though? Sorry, but i'm a complete noob when it comes to car electronics lol
