Title: Daytime flash to pass
Post by: CrackerTeg on March 19, 2014, 08:08:35 AM
As you all know, I have a new retro and have had retrofitted headlights for several years now. One thing that bugs me is flash to pass. What I mean is, the HID lights come on briefly at the same time as the high beams do when you pull the stalk towards you. Obviously, the quick flash isn't good for the HID bulbs as that'll shorten their life much sooner than standard usage. Is there a way of bypassing the low beams coming on when pulling the stalk for flash to pass?

I'm sure there's a way and I'm sure it involves a relay.

Drive with your headlights on all the time maybe? like that theyll alredy be on when you need to flash.

Question is, how?

No.

I'd have to look closer at the wiring diagram first.

I was scoping out what others were asking in other forums and all that was found was a mystery black box in those diagrams. This was in TSX forums. I haven't looked at the diagrams myself to see what I can find though.

Found this but for the Mazda 3: http://www.mazda3forums.com/showthread.php?t=282113 (http://www.mazda3forums.com/showthread.php?t=282113)
Not exactly the same but can it be?

I've thought about this ever since I did my retro. I usually just avoid flashing my brights unless I have my headlights on. If i absolutely have to I'll flash my fogs. If there is an easy solution for this I would love to do it!

My high beams are also HID, so I rarely flash them. It's nothing I've really thought about much though.

My previous retros also had HID in the high beams and it bugged me that I didn't have flash to pass because of them. Now that I'm back to halogen, I want to be able to use it but not kill my ballasts.
