Title: JC04accord's Quad Retro (Now with output pics!)
Post by: Milan on March 18, 2009, 10:40:49 PM
Today I helped out my buddy Jason install his new quad retro set-up.  Needless to say they are pure sex on wheels.  Here are a couple of shots.  I will let Jason fill in the details when he gets on.

AMAZING PICTURES MILAN!

Meh...they're okay considering the overcast day.

The details for these are, if I'm not mistaken: Main driving lights are bi-xenon FX projectors with clear lenses.  The other are TSX projectors hooked up to a switch that you can toggle.  6000K all around.

How is it driving with these on?   8-)

That has got to be the nicest set of head lights i've seen. I don't know how practical they are but, they look amazing!

Title: Re: JC04accord's Quad Retro
Post by: JC04accord on March 18, 2009, 11:08:02 PM
Yessir full specs are
OEM Housings Painted Flat Black
Orange reflector tinted
FX's with clear lenses in the low beam area
TSX's in high beam area with color mod
4 Matsushita ballasts
4 6k bulbs

The FX's run off of stock switch and with help from Tim I was able to wire the TSX's up to an OEM foglight switch.  Thanks Milan for helping me out today and taking some damn nice pictures as well as Tim for helping me figure out that damn fog light switch.

They look even better on your car Jason.  Glad I could help with the fog light switch.  Now I can post the wiring diagram for people that want to use the OEM fog light switch for something else.

Thanks all for the nice comments.  Piero I did my first retro but when It came to time etc I just didn't have enough to be able to do my second retro the way I wanted it to be done.  Trying to line up 2 projectors is fun but lining up 4 projectors I said fuck that as well as having to deal with the space issues to get everything to fit so I had Rich do them exactly how I wanted them to be done and I'm very happy with the results.

Jason those look amazing. I'm kinda chuckling because in the first pic you can see Milan and yourself in your bumper. Curious, how much did this entire retro cost?

I haven't commented yet, but I must say that this is a sick fucking retro! If there's a point to it, who cares? They look bad ass! But in all seriousness, why the quad projectors? Isn't the traditional way more than enough light? Or is it one of those "Cuz I can" sort of mods?

Well I saved money by getting all the parts myself off of ebay but with everything umm lets see
OEM Housings Painted Flat Black  housings were i think i got em for like 140 shipped or something
Orange reflector tinted
FX's with clear lenses in the low beam area 130 plus clear lenses 40
TSX's in high beam area with color mod 150
4 Matsushita ballasts roughly 300
4 6k bulbs 100 dollars
Shrouds were 100 for 2 sets
labor and wire harnesses 450
oem switch and wire harness 50
Total roughly 1500 dollars

With twice the output from my previous retro I'd have to say its a lot better out put as well as the fact that I now have HID high beams instead of stock which rock as well.  I like driving at night have a lot of classes at night and also go up north from time to time where there really isn't any city/street lighting.  And its just because I can why not lol.

Do you have any cut off pictures yet?  I'd like to see the difference in output from 1 to 2 sets of projectors.  I'd also like to see your high beams.

wow 1500 for it! thats expensive, but im sure the output is insane. if i ever got the kind of money to do this, i would do it in a heart beat. looks so much better than just a single retro IMO.

what i want to know is how you mount the TSX projector in the high beam bowl?

Ehhh, the price isnt bad.  The retro I have(s2000 projectors, E46/A4 shroud combo) cost about $1000-1100 to make and I bought em 2 months after they were completed for another member for like $900.

don't know about the HID retrofit. 08 Pilot had HID and dropped on 09. That can say 2 things: either bulb replacement are too expensive or the output seems almost like having a silverstar.

if i ever think of changing the head assembly, will go directly to the Inspire ones. those rocks big time...

I've been really busy with 40 plus hrs and work as well as school and the fact i have a shitty point and shoot camera.  I'll try and get some asap with my camera I'm unsure if you would be able to tell the intensity difference between 2 and 4 projectors on but I can grab some shots non the less.

Play by play:
Cop: What are you doing here?  The owner of the property doesn't like trespassers? etc etc
Me:  Were taking pictures?
Cop: Pictures of what?
Me: The differences between my headlights with retrofitted tsx xenon and fx bi-xenon projectors against stock halogens.
Cop: Well your going to have to leave ( I think I made him feel stupid with retro talk lol)
Milan then states that he lives here and the cop goes for how long....4 years....do you have proof...

Cop was just annoying and he had a plain clothed person with him that got out of the car.  I just wanted to say seriously don't you have anything better to do were just taking pictures you douche.

That's it in a nutshell.

that is some sick output. but im pretty sure that pictures cannot do it justice. even though the pictures themselves are very very good shots. can you turn just one set of projectors on(ie. just the TSX projectors, or just the FX projectors)?

Title: Re: JC04accord's Quad Retro (Now with output pics!)
Post by: JC04accord on August 22, 2009, 03:28:53 PM
The Fx projectors are the ones providing the color at the cut off.  With just them turned on the out put is amazing.  When I turn the TSX projectors on the beam pattern increases and the foreground lights up even more.
