Neither have I but it'd be nice to know what the hell my brother is paying for gas and what he's actually filling her up with.

I know there are a couple threads already about average mpg so I won't go there, but I think I might need some clarifications on some ideas since I only seem to be getting like 26-27mpg with 80%+ highway driving I thought I would with this car.  Pardon me if this questions seem silly.

1.  When I drive I usually try and keep it under 2k rpms unless I really need to pass or get up to speed in which case it stays under 3k.  Would you consider this driving conservatively?  I was under the impression that v-tec kicked in above 3k so keeping it below that was ideal for mpgs.

I guess my thought was I feel like I'm driving the car conservatively but maybe I'm not and thats the reason for the getting less than I though mileage wise.

the stock tune on a k24a4 or a8 has a vtec engagement point of 2200 rpm's, with the amount of highway driving that you do i would say that 27 is average. of course the more you mod your car the more the mileage can fluctuate depending on your driving habits.

Another thing is the revised EPA ratings for our cars were a lot lower than the original ones. Our cars are rated to get like 21 city / 31 highway. I used to get really pissed off because I would only get 20mpg driving to my high school and back.

I've only fueled up my car twice so far, and I got 26mpg for the last one, which was pretty much all highway and me having a little fun on long straightaways out in the middle of nowhere. I don't call myself a really conservative driver, however. In normal driving I try to stay under 3,000RPM, but when I need to pass, I pass, lol.

One thing I don't get is how all these people that I see posting on Driveaccord.net are getting like 450-500 miles on a single tank. Even when I get 26mpg, I can just barely get 350 miles on a tank. What the heck? lol

450-500 is crazy, i can get at most 375-400 but that is running on fumes.

I think it's because the i4 has to do more work... I wouldn't be surprised if the v6 got better gas mileage on the highway.

I used to get 450 on my 4banger and I drove it like I stole it sometimes. All I had was tsx im, pulley& cai. It was an lx so it was a few hundred lbs lighter then the ex. Maybe that's the issue? I drove it until the light came on. 3 gallon on reserved

Nah. I get about the same 350 to the tank and that's filling up as soon as the light comes on. Granted, I know I probably have a good 100 more miles before I hit fumes but I never take that chance. I'm probably due for a tune-up anyway when I get home but that's my experience with my mileage. That mileage is also while driving like an asshole in NY and for a short time in Miami before shipping out.

I drive like an asshole here too and I get 19-20 mpg's in the city.  When I go On long road trips I typically get 29-30 mpg's on the highway.  The 6th gear is really handy for that.

i try to keep mine under 2400 RPM (I can do 83 at 2300 RPM).  Doesn't limit highway speed but does net a positive impact in the city.
