Title: Skippy's build thread Post by: Skippy on April 22, 2008, 11:57:04 AM So the time has come.
Welcome to my build thread..I've been spreading hype about it for months and now the time has come to lay out the foundation. I've been itching to get more power out of my 4cyl but my luck has not been great. I dyno'd the car in 2007 and reached 153whp and 154wtq. Needless to say I was dissatisfied. Here's the goal: 260whp out of an 90% stock K24/K20 hybrid. I want this motor to be a marvel, not a monster. This motor will be going into my daily driver, so being discreet and drivable are of the utmost concern. Here is the growing parts list. --Acquired means that I have the item, no designation means I need to get it. The list is growing...and it's midnight so I'm probably gonna forget some stuff. K24a4 block --Acquired Block guard TSX pistons --Acquired TSX rods --Acquired K20 oil pump --Acquired K20a2 head --Acquired Skunk2 stage 1 camshafts --Acquired Supertech valvesprings Supertech valve retainers Supertech valve seats New stock valves ARP headstuds --Acquired RBC Intake manifold --Acquired RDX 410cc Injectors --Acquired That really weird water neck on the front of the head --Acquired Fuel system: Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator --Acquired Aeromotive fuel pressure gauge -6an fuel lines AEM Fuel rail Induction: Custom fabricated short ram intake RSX-S Throttle body K24 TB gasket --Acquired BLOX RBC TB adapter --Acquired Engine Management: Hondata Kpro --ACQUIRED, BITCHES... Custom Kpro jumper harness --acquired, FINALLY! AEM UEGO Wideband A/F controller -acquired and installed Honda Engine rebuild supplies: K24 Headgasket -acquired K24 Main bearings -acquired K24 Rod bearings K24 Piston rings K20 head kit -acquired K24 Water pump Miscellaneous: K20 Primary A/F sensor --Acquired and modified K20 Knock sensor --Acquired K20 VTEC solenoid --Acquired K20 CKP sensor/wheel --Acquired K24 thrust washers --Acquired K24 Timing chain --Acquired K20 VTC regulator --Acquired BLOX oil pressure sandwich plate --Acquired K20 timing chain tensioner Random stuff I probably don't need but want anyway: Auto meter oil pressure gauge -acquired and installed Auto Meter DPSS Spoon carbon kevlar coil cover Skunk2 brake/clutch/PS reservoir covers SKUNK2 SHIFT KNOB GOD DAMMIT! So now that I've totally bored you with jargon...here are some pretty pictures of my progress: (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d93/thedeke/Engine%20build/P3190026.jpg) (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d93/thedeke/Engine%20build/P3190027.jpg) (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d93/thedeke/Engine%20build/P3190031.jpg) (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d93/thedeke/Engine%20build/P3050019.jpg) (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d93/thedeke/decepticon.jpg) (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d93/thedeke/Kpro/P5160067.jpg) (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d93/thedeke/P1280001.jpg) Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: Blackhawk on September 30, 2008, 02:28:13 PM I can stare at that table for hours. Love the fact that you always have new little boxes laying around every time I come over

Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: Mike on February 13, 2009, 08:15:34 AM I'm impressed with your goals! It's nice to see someone go after a build with the goal of staying NA

I'll let Skippy answer that one. I hope that one day I can post my build thread and Mike will respect me for staying n/a. I will say this, Skippy has always been my inspiration for my own build. Eventually I will get around to collecting parts like he has. For now, I have to find a reliable tuner that knows K Pro and K Series motors. Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: Heckler on February 14, 2009, 07:36:03 AM In the long run i'm not really interested in doing a build like this, however, would like to do cams and some simple valvetrain and kpro.
...waiting on Skip's response. Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: cstyleaccord on March 05, 2009, 02:14:52 AM if you do cams and simple valvetrain..might as well get a k24a2..those parts will run you almost half of what the motor cost plus installation. if you want a nice gain that is what i would do. start with something like this will make you appreciate the money you spent.

Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: Skippy on April 11, 2009, 08:51:45 AM It's currently on hold because I ran my credit card up with buying parts for the motor haha. I'm going to wait until the economy gets better and then we'll go from there.
Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: slipkord on April 11, 2009, 01:37:01 PM Screw the economy!!! Just open another card and keep the parts a flowin.
I like what you've done so far, keep us updated. Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: Skippy on April 11, 2009, 02:25:04 PM Debt isn't fun as it is...I want to get out of debt and start living a little besides blowing all my money on the car...I have a few creature comfort items I want to buy before any more parts are acquired.
Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: Paulius005 on April 12, 2009, 07:08:58 PM Creature comfort... psht.. who needs that... lol just kiddin around... nice to see your progress so far
Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: thisaznboi88 on April 13, 2009, 02:13:34 AM I hope u win the lottery n get out of debt so I can finally see the build... It must suck having to look at the sickest thing you have built so far and cant use it... But yeah being in debt sucks.. especially now and my sales tax just went up 1% so its 8.25 in merced and 9.25 in san jose, CA blah...
Title: Re: Skippy's build thread Post by: Skippy on April 13, 2009, 10:08:43 PM you'll see it...eventually...haha. Thanks for staying excited :)

Once I'm out of the whole negative cash flow situation I'll let you know...I have a bit of special work that I want done :) You can go nuts on the head, but my block will be prepared by our affiliated machine shop. He has prepared all of our race blocks in the past.
