After ordering the car and waiting 4 months for it, I had it for 3 months before I got rear ended stuck in traffic by a driver not paying attention and on his cell phone. Ended up being sandwiched between a Pathfinder and an X5. The Volvo was repaired at the dealer but filled with electrical gremlins ever since. In 2007 I went looking for a 4 door Civic SI, every dealer I went to wanted $24K for one and I wasn't about to pay that much for a Civic. Stumbled upon my Accord in February 2007. The dealer I went to had about 10 Left over V6 6-Speeds that nobody wanted. Got a great deal, for $23,000 out the door. My plan with this car is just to make it as enjoyable as possible. Welcome to the elite my "Twin"! Damn glad to be the first to post in your profile thread. Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on November 20, 2010, 06:53:00 PM Thanks Arie. I wouldn't be at TCC or here if it weren't for you. So Thank You!!
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: CrackerTeg on November 21, 2010, 02:02:26 AM Welcome to the elite. Here's my stab: not a fan of the blue sprinkled throughout the engine bay. If you were to do that, I'd say do the valve covers, and the center cover of your IM. The loom is old school rice. Otherwise, I like the cleanliness of the ride.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Mr Eazy on November 21, 2010, 12:43:31 PM Thanks Arie. I wouldn't be at TCC or here if it weren't for you. So Thank You!! My pleasure bro. It's always a good thing to have a new member, especially with a 6spd sedan ;) Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Mike on November 21, 2010, 05:10:06 PM Welcome to ECM
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on November 22, 2010, 02:49:04 PM Thanks for the welcomes. Jonathan thanks for the criticism. I'm not done with the engine bay yet. I'm eyeing Paul SRI and I'll have him powder coat it blue.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: CrackerTeg on November 23, 2010, 12:23:42 PM That'll work man. I don't want you to take my criticism as bashing or anything like that. Sometimes I come across pretty harsh. Just putting it out there.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on November 24, 2010, 04:45:28 PM Are you kidding me? That's part of the reason why I love this forum. There aren't that many whiney babies that get offended and start crying about somebodies opinion. You're entitled to tell me what you think of my car and part of the reason of the post is to see what other people think. If I agree with it, then I'll follow your advice, if not then I won't. In the end it's my car and I'll do what I want with it. LoL
Jonathan, believe me as well, there are times where I can come across the same way. I'm glad to be here and to just read some of the crazy shit that gets posted. Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Mr Eazy on November 24, 2010, 05:29:13 PM oh oh, careful Nelson. He gets angry when you call him Jonathan, and you won't like it when he's angry. Th LMFAO
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on November 24, 2010, 06:00:49 PM Sorry Z!! Won't happen again. Wouldn't want you to get all angry with that Ninja Status you've got going on.

Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: CrazyCreashunz on March 30, 2011, 04:56:10 PM Sweet... Nelson if you plan on smoking out your headlights and fogs then it will flow with the mirrors otherwise take tint of the mirrors! That's my suggestion.... PSsst.... im creeping up on you buddy! Bumper in the shop as I type this. :flip:
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: CrackerTeg on March 31, 2011, 02:59:22 AM I wouldn't do it. Light output sucks with tinted lights.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on March 31, 2011, 07:25:14 AM I'm not tinting the headlights. That'll probably be the only difference between mine and Arie's car. Oh and the J36 conversion that I want to do.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: CrackerTeg on March 31, 2011, 07:32:47 AM His was also lowered with TL-S wheels. Don't forget about the Borla exhaust.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on March 31, 2011, 08:41:41 AM That's why I said that WILL be the only difference. By all means, don't misunderstand me, I'm not done. Lol

Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: CrackerTeg on March 31, 2011, 03:08:51 PM Arie made out like a bandit with you man. Did you get the spiked license plate frames too?
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Mike on March 31, 2011, 03:47:02 PM I'll under cut him and sell you my exhaust....
I kid I kid.... Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on March 31, 2011, 05:10:09 PM Arie made out like a bandit with you man. Did you get the spiked license plate frames too? No, I don't like those frames. To be honest, it's shit that I was planning on getting anyways, just came a little sooner and a lot quicker than I thought I would get it. Especially since some things are becoming even harder to find, like the front lip. Also, since both cars were the same color. Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Mike on March 31, 2011, 07:16:44 PM Makes perfect sense.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on July 09, 2012, 02:14:54 PM Mod's list updated. I should take some more pics this weekend and post those up too.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: CrackerTeg on July 09, 2012, 03:42:22 PM Yeah you should. Stop posting pics after a taxi hits it.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on July 09, 2012, 03:44:18 PM LOL. Smart ass.
Title: Re: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: CrackerTeg on July 09, 2012, 07:54:29 PM I try.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on July 17, 2012, 05:40:59 PM So I'm Purchasing EBC red stuff pads this week to give those a try. I've had yellow stuff pads for the last year or so. They've been okay. Honestly, I think the braking system on our accords is really shitty. You can change the rotors and the pads but it's really not going to get you anywhere. I plan on upgrading the front calipers some time next year.
Also, my stock shocks are pretty much wasted after suffering new York city potholes for 50,000 miles. It's time for me to send my Teins back to get rebuilt. So they'll be going on the car sometime next month. By mid-winter I want to have an upgraded exhaust system. So if anybody knows of a good exhaust shop in NYC, please let me know. Also, the closer I get to 100,000 miles (at 65,000 now) the closer that engine gets to being rebuilt by Paul. I'm thinking in about 2 years time. Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Rich01 on July 17, 2012, 08:34:22 PM You have no engine performance mods and you drive a manual....not sure why your stock brakes aren't sufficient? As for your other plans GL we may be hitting up Paul around the same time.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Arielit0oo on July 17, 2012, 08:39:22 PM And rims.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on July 17, 2012, 09:01:12 PM Ariel, sometimes I feel like giving you a beat down.
Rich, I've driven other cars (rentals, i.e. Chevy Traverse, Nissan Altima, a Chrysler minivan and ford f-150) over the past year, and all of them had brakes that had a shit load better grip than my stock ones. It's been like that since day one. Even with downshifting it feels weak. I just feel like the single piston calipers and the size of the rotors are undersized for a sedan accord. It's a heavy freaking car. Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Mike on July 17, 2012, 09:05:48 PM Rotors are fine. Buy legend GS calipers! You will love the way your car stops... Oh and get some rims pussy! >:D
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Arielit0oo on July 17, 2012, 09:40:22 PM LOL! Hey! Mike agreed with me!

Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on July 18, 2012, 10:20:44 AM Mike, you have a borla exhaust just lying around?
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Mike on July 18, 2012, 11:06:24 AM Yes... I bought it used from an old member here with about 600 miles on it.

I don't like using my landlord's water to wash my car. He's lenient enough that he let me put in a washing machine in my apartment but I don't want to take advantage. Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on July 23, 2012, 10:39:34 PM Some pictures uploaded

Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on March 22, 2014, 04:20:20 PM It's been a while since I've posted in here.
Just to give an update of what's been going on over the last yet with this car. A little less than a year ago my wife and I decided it was time for a new car. Something that was AWD and an automatic that she would be able to drive. We test drove countless vehicles from volvo's to beamers to Acura's. About three months ago we decided to get a Mini countryman and put a deposit down on a white one with red interior. A few days before we took delivery we decided not go for it. Reason being that we got so fed up with living in an apartment and dealing with other peoples bad habits and drama that we started looking at homes to purchase. We've been on the house hunt for a few months now and are still looking. So coming back to the accord, knowing that we might be locked into a mortgage soon, I've been trying to get it to a point where it won't give me any issues for years to come. This month I replaced a noisy power steering pump and the serpentine belt. Also did a coolant flush. Next month I'll be tackling the brakes and rotors. A few weeks after that the car is going into the body shop for a fender replacement and headlight replacement. Putting everything OEM and not aftermarket. I'm hoping to be able to do a water pump and timing belt in May and hopefully a clutch by late June. All in all the car is 8 years old and I need it to last another 10 without any major issues. Thanks for reading my long post. Hope all is well with you guys. Title: Re: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: Mike on March 22, 2014, 11:00:31 PM Hope the hunt is going well. House hunting can be stressful
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on March 22, 2014, 11:11:18 PM Thanks mike. It's going....that's all I can say.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: timot_one on March 24, 2014, 08:57:26 AM Glad you're keeping it longer. It will last if you take care of it.

Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: ikethegreat on March 25, 2014, 07:17:34 AM Have you looked into first time home buyer programs (assuming you are a first time home buyer)? I wouldn't have been able to buy my house without it.
Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: gargantula99 on March 25, 2014, 08:30:32 AM Thanks Denny.
Ike, yeah we're taking advantage of those programs. The issue is the area we want compared to what are maximum house price range is. We're slightly below. Lol But we'll get there in time. No worries. Title: Re: [Profile] Gargantula99 Post by: slipkord on March 26, 2014, 10:29:48 AM Good luck my friend. I wish I would have kept my Accord(s). 6MT is special too.
