Love my cf hood!

Okay i'm just going to get straight to the point.
I've noticed AMAZING results after installing my carbon fiber hood!
Been driving like a grandma to reap the benefits of added mpgs.. I got 25 mpg for city driving..What do you guys think about that? does it sound normal?
Also kept up with my buddys sc400 with NA 2jz vvti engine...I know that car's a lot heavier than mine but that thing moves! he's about to go Turbo soon so it was good that i am atleast upto his current whp range...my feeling is im pushing somewhere a little over 140 to the wheels..the only other boltons i have is a tsx manifold paired with an AEM SRI
thanks for reading.
I paid $400 for my CF hood on ebay.. It had 0 issues when i got it and is quite beautiful..

So your feeling is that mpg has increased dramatically because of the hood?

I guess changing shit around through tapatalk doesn't reflect. Whatever.
Anyway, OP, I moved your post from bolt ons as a carbon fiber hood is more an exterior mod. Also, your thread title of "Best bolt on for the money" didn't really lend to what the thread was about so that's why the current title is there.

I got 25 mpg for city driving.
So what were you getting before?
I find it hard to believe this minimal amount of weight reduction would result any tangible mpg increase.

Increase mpg, yes. How much, maybe slightly higher than running lower grade motor oil. I haven't done a comparison as yet, but I can lift my VIS cf hood with one hand easily.

My point after his answer was going to be that his change in driving habits is what's causing the savings...

those with CF hoods: are you using hoodpins?
I've been thinking about getting one and can't decide whether to get hoodpins also...

No one that I know uses them with there cf hoods. Really no need unless you plan on racing or do it just for looks. Just as an fyi, if you have hood supports, only use one. Hoods are too light for both.

Didn't Ben (Accord Euro-R) have his CF hood flip and smash his windshield? I remember seeing a picture of a smashed up windshield a while back.

I recall someone back in the day had an issue with his hoodlatch on his cf hood and it ended up flipping up when he was driving on the highway. It smashed his windshield and roof in. I'm not sure if it was a "cheap" cf hood that he was using, or if it was a failure due to something else. I would actually use hoodpins with a CF hood for some additional security.

Just go open engine bay. Say it's for additional cooling.
