Shocks surface rust
«
on:

I've got surface rust on my Koni's, enough that the paint is peeling from underneath
What concerned me is the small 0.5" space between two slots (for the height adjustment) rusted out and is pretty much hanging on by a thread, this concerns me as it makes me wonder if this will affect the integrity of the spring seat.
Should I be concerned?

If worse comes to worse, send them to Koni. Koni has lifetime warranty.

There you can see the ring of rust separating from the body between mounting slots
Note I thought I posted this in suspension section. Feel free to move the thread there

If its not.leaking or has any other issues but the rust I would take it out clean it well and paint that area with some rustoleum metal paint finish to prevent it for getting worse

If you're worried about the rust affecting the structural integrity, the common sense thing to do is pull them off and send them back to koni for warranty service.

I was asking if I should be concerned, it looked odd so I figured I would ask
I've emailed KONI to see if they've seen this before, and if this could cause any issues
I'd rather not jump into the shipping of dampers and dissembly unless I am sure

Yeah, that's understandable. When you think about it though, it's safety issue. If there's any question at all, it's best to send them back to Koni.
