I don't get that. Paying for friends? I guess you don't get how it works. All the money goes to the paying for the house, the staff, and the philanthropy. There are just so many expenses that no individual profits from it.

MY best friend was in Sig Ep, and from my point of view, and I mean no offense or disrespect, but it is a lot like paying for friends, you are paying to be hang out with them and be a part of their group. If you were not a member of the frat, could you still go to their parties?

Yes. Here are the rules, it may seem shallow but I don't control it. Everyone must be 18. You can't come in if you have on a flat bill hat or if you have been black listed. You get black listed if you start a fight, get caught stealing stuff, or act inappropriate. For girls, there are no rules other than being 18, although I have never seen a fat girl in the house. Might be an understood rule   Anyone can eat at the house if you are a guest. I've been going to frat houses since high school. I don't think there is a single fraternity here that host member only parties. Maybe it's different here. Only 7% of the student body is greek. I'll give you this. In a way, I am paying too have something to put on my resume. Being a part of something, such as a fraternity especially if you hold a position, rush chairman, president, v. president, treasurer, etc. The only reason I say I am paying for it is because if you aren't a part you can't really put that down. Mike L. was in a frat so maybe he can chime in and say what it was like in yankee land. To be 100% honest though, I'd much rather have a non-greek campus. Much less pressure.

Frats really aren't my kinda thing.  My school didn't have 'em, but everyone was really cliquey when it came to race or ethnicity.  Bunch of fucking idiots if you ask me.

Being a member of a philanthropic organization always looks good whether you hold an office or not. Companies don’t look at it as a party thing that looked at the side of fraternities that contribute to charitable events and causes. In my area you were required as a group to participate in events to help the community.

Exactly, and why would I not at least try to hold a position? Seems like a wasted opportunity to me. I also like being a part of something. We may not have a huge campus, 20,000 students, but it's pretty easy to feel lost amongst everyone else. Just something else to set yourself apart. It's cool if you don't want to be in one or if it's just not your thing, but don't hate on them.

On another note, I just failed my math test. I got my graph transformations mixed up.  Oh well, I still have an A in there.
