Discipline is good but, it has its place and its limits. Child abuse is a whole other story I got arrested three years ago because I attacked some prick in a grocery store after watching him literally punch his 8 year old in the face. When his wife tried to intervene he shoved her into the shelving.  I agree with discipline but, it can be taken way to far. Mike in your profession I'm sure you have seen situations where its been taken over the line.

Yes and no, we get a good mix of abuse, but more of ppl now calling in wanting us to basically come tell their children what to do since they are too scared to discipline their Kids. Yea, punching your child in the face is too far but a good spanking or whipping with a belt, just a few licks does the trick
