It is common knowledge. I can understand a 3-6 lane highway littered with traffic but a two lane with NOBODY on the fucking road its stupid to hang out on the left. I'm talking roads that you could probably get away with doing 120 on cruise control and not need to swerve its so damn empty. The right lane is the travel lane and the left is for passing. Its that fucking simple.

Maine is the only state I've ever been in where the police actually enforce that law. I think it's common courtesy and common sense. It's illegal to pass on the right, so the far left lane is always the passing lane, while the other lanes are the driving lanes. I don't understand why anyone would drive in the left lane the whole time. I guess they're either ignorant/oblivious or intentionally rude.

Its funny on the one highway I travel on when I commute to school, there's actually signs posted showing slow vehicles, travel, and passing (in the three lane passing zones). As for being oblivious or intentionally rude, I'd say its a good mixture of it. In the case of the highway patrol doing it, its most definitely intentionally rude.

I don't think those rules apply in Orlando anymore because of the constant congestion haha. People here treat the left lane as just another lane. I usually stick to the middle lane and pass on the left if someone is going under the speed limit. Fucking slowpokes!

I get pissed when people dont move but I travel in that lane. If someone comes up behind me I will move but other than that its a lane just like any other.

^^ Exactly. Although if I'm already going a good bit over the speed limit and someone comes up behind me, I don't move over. If they want to drive like a dick, they can go around.

Well, after much debate and soul searching, I am going to apply for Nashville Metro Police department and attempt to get into their academy. Now, once I find my high school diploma and get the scanner rigged up, I am going to submit my application. That will be something big for me as I have lived here my whole life and will be basically starting over
