In this case, sequestration does not mean the same as jury sequestration.  It's not a matter of you getting isolated somewhere.

Sequestration in this case is where they reduce federal spending (see the Budget Control Act of 2011 and the US fiscal cliff).  Essentially, if Congress does not come up with a budget plan soon, then the Budget Control Act of 2011 takes effect.  This means that there will be budget cuts across the board (sequestrations) in federal spending.  It is projected to total $1.2 trillion over the next 10 years.

It affects a lot of where the federal government spends money; for example, defense contractors, three letter agencies, military, etc.  It is not just limited to security programs though.

In so, pretty much every defense contractor is starting to issue layoff warnings.  The government stated that if an employer is laying off an employee because of sequestration, they have to provide the employee a 60 day notice.  It also means that folks in the military that want to re-enlist will begin to get re-enlistment applications denied.  I mention defense contractor because defense spending is affected, but it is not the only area getting affected.
