Opinions on wheel repairs

So I just got back from meeting up with a wheel repair specialist (Alloy Wheel Repair out of Quincy, MA). They have mobile service people and he happened to be right down the street from me today, so it was convenient. I have Axis Mod rims in silver with a machine polished lip, and they have the usual scratches and dings with two rims that have small dents in the outter perimeter due to run-ins with curbs. We went over some repair options, but unfortunately because these are machined polished wheels, fixing dents is almost impossible. The options are to either try to buff is out (but compromise the clear coat), or fill it in with a type of putty (which is grey in color so it'll look dumb). The guy suggested having the rims totally stripped down and painted any color, which would revamp the wheels and will not come off unless I hit something, and will look like totally new rims. He suggested something like a phantom chrome, or some sort of light or dark silver/grey color to set if off since my car is graphite pearl. All the work would be $500 for all 4 wheels, done in one day. So, what do you guys think of the re-paint idea? Here's a side shot for reference:

I love the Axis Mod rims .. if you can afford it, go for it... I would do hyper silver or gunmetal...

I think the dark silver/gray would be hot. It's a decent price too. Cuz I know somebody who just got theirs re-done and actually a very similar color for $300 but that's cuz it was through a vicious hook up

This company said that they didn't have a machine that re-polished lips on rims.
Derrick - Ok, we won't spoil any surprises here.

they aren't the only place. If they had a mobile station, that means one of two things:
a) they are really high end, charge alot, and come to you for all services
b) they are smaller operation, run the buisness out of their house and have to go to your house to do services since they don't have a shop...
im willing to bet the latter, based on the prices you threw up...for any type of thing like this I would atleast check a couple other companies for a comparison

Step 1: Repaint and refinish rims
Step 2: Avoid curbs

Yeh I'm sure they're not the only option, but other than that, your assumptions are incorrect . This company is a chain throughout a large part of the country, and they have a central location in the Boston, MA area, but also offer mobile repair trucks for people like me who don't need/want to drop the rims off out-of-state. The guy was real layed back, and we're texting each other back and forth with ideas in fact. He was working on a set of Lexus IS300 wheels when I met up with him, and the workmanship looked good. They usually go to dealerships to work on customer cars, so they must be doing something right.
