just wondering what would be a good recommendation for an 18in all season tires? I dont think I want to ever go back to stock wheels again....unless I get a flat.

+1 on the 960's.  I have been very happy with the ones on my TL wheels.  They provide good all season performance at a reasonable price.

I'm thinking of at least going 235/40/18, will 245/40/18 stick out? if so, then i'm sticking with 235/40/18.

You might also might want to take in consideration what rim width your rims are. A 235/40 R18 won't fit on a 7.5" width rim nor can a 245/40 R18 fit. If you are going say 18x8 then yes a 235 or 245 will fit comfortably and won't stick out. Tim is actually running a 245/45 R17 on his TL rims and so is Skippy.

If you rims are 8.5" width rim, I'd go with a 245/40 R18. I got Cham into a 245/35 R19, and he just had to raise his car a little. All and all, he doesn't rub.

well I"m planning to lower my car some more this weekend, so if I went with 245/40 R18, do you think that will rub?

You might depending on how low you go. If it does rub, you can always roll your fenders.

well I'm thinking going as low as one finger gap, whats  your observation by that? and isn't rolling fenders FTL?

With a 1 finger gap, you should be able to clear with no rubbing issue. If done professionally, then all is good. Doing it yourself, you might make mistake, and you can't go back and correct the mistake either.

Yeah, I know. It's not advised, but you can.

I advise a 235/40/18 on a 18"x7.5" wheel!!  As far as other diameters and profiles, I don't have any input.  I just say this because I have been safely running the 235/45/17's on my car since February.

what about an 18 X 8.5 wheel?

Well, I'd be running 255/35/18's because I'd want the widest tread possible and my speedo is already off enough because of the tranny swap.

Thank god! Your not doing your HFp kit, ssp's and rims any just by sitting up that high.

well I figured that lowering a little more should be alright since we wont see snow again for awhile.

+2 on potenza re960as pole positions. if youre not interested in those and are lookin for something else, just stay away from goodyear/dunlops. youre car will give you a massage every time you get on the highway , that is until a tire blows up. i worked for goodyear for almost 4 years and i will never buy one of their products again.

I have a set of Michelin's (forgot what model) on my steelies.  They weren't too bad for what I got 'em for.  I'll try to find out what kind they are the next time I look at the wheels in my storage space.

They are probaly the MXM4.

I have no clue.  I got them back in December 2005.  I've probably put 5,000 miles on them since then.

I know its late, but I've ran 235/45/17 on 17x7.5 since Labor Day with no problems.

That is fine. The 235/45 R17 approved rim width is from 7.5 to 9.0.

I had to go 265/35/18 so that the tire would not look stretched and for it to look flush with my fenders. I tried 235/40/18 and 255/35/18 and both of those looked stretched towards the car. This might be due to the 9" wide rims. Hopefully the new setup works, I will post pics when done. Ryan, any 235/40 tire should work well. Thien's recommendation is best as he is around tires all day and knows what's good and what's not.

I've loved every Yokohama I have ever had.  Great tires.  However, some of them are terrrrible on ice.

The only thing my MXM4's are better than my yokes at is snow.  Aside from that, Michelin blows.

The MXM4's are good in snow?

I have a set of Michelin Pilot something or other's on my steelies that were pretty good.  They haven't been on my car in years, but I remember they did a pretty good job in the snow.

Ryan, If you had .5" more of rim width I'd say get yourself a pair of 265/35/18 960 Pole Positions, although I am sure they'd probably be around $300 a tire  

Isn't the whole point of getting a type of tire you would use in the snow to have it as skinny as possible?  Wouldn't going wider for an all season tire make it less effective in any type of snow because there isn't enough car weight to make the tires get to the pavement?  That's just how I look at it could be wrong.  I have the BP's as well at 225/40/18.

That's a good size JC04Accord, although I'd up the sidewall to 225/45/18 just for extra cushion since 40 is pretty low profile when used on a 225mm width. And I agree with you on less width for snow. Was just trying to peak Ryan's interest in the world of uberwide since he had asked me about my setup the other night

does anyone have any idea of how Yokohama YK520's are performance wise? might pick up a set of those for some 3rd gen tl wheels, or some nitto neogens for some 03 tl-s wheels.

IMO Thinner tires are not always better in the snow/ice. It's my thought that tred design is the more important factor although width needs to taken into consideration as well.

For snow thinner is always better.  for Ice thicker is better as surface area and biting edges are what matter for ice traction.  The compound and tread design are what make winter tires so much better than all season tires on snow and ice, and are probably more important than tire size alone.

What do you guys think of Nitto NeoGens? I've been reading their reviews on DTD, particularly the reviews from people with lowered vehicles in snowy states, and they're good reviews. Wear doesn't seem to be bad on them from what they're saying if rotated regularly. BTW, the size I'm looking at is 235/40/18. Thoughts?
